There is a huge section of the market (eg business and health) that will only take us seriously and utilize our services in a professional way if we have research to back up our claims. For this reason, Laughter Yoga Australia embarked on several research studies to prove our validity. And it worked.
This session will reveal the results of the three studies that are currently complete, as well as the one starting in September which hopefully will be complete by the conference. They were conducted in partnership with Deakin University, Latrobe University, and Monash Health. In this session, the results of the three studies that are currently complete will be revealed, as well as the one starting in September. They were conducted in partnership with Deakin University, Latrobe University, and Monash Health. The completed ones are relevant to business, aged care, and health. The last two have been officially ``published`` by journals so they are now medical history.
The main finding with the Business research was that people felt they were more connected to those who they shared the laughter experience with. This resulted in Workplace Wellbeing continuing to increase long after the study concluded. With the Aged Care, there was a significant reduction in blood pressure levels which is a major concern in the elderly.
And finally, the Health research was done with people undergoing Kidney Dialysis. Apart from the fact that they concluded that ``Laughter Yoga is a safe form of exercise for people undergoing a medical procedure``, researchers were able to increase blood pressure levels to the point where they experienced less Intra Dialytic Hypertensive Episode alarms. These IDHE's are a serious health concern which can result in cardiac arrest. The researchers stated that this was ``clinically significant``. The team also won an award for innovation for this research. As a result of this, the Professor in charge Paul Bennett, has been able to introduce the program into Satellite Health renal units in the USA so we are now having a global impact. The next set of research about to be started is for pain management. While the outcome is already known due to empirical evidence, but this will be the first time that it has been proven.
The session will conclude with a laughter yoga session which was a huge hit when presented at the conference last year
